Jack was born on 7/8/17 shortly after, he was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy. In June 2022 a scheduled MRI revealed the worst case scenario and he was scheduled for a Bone Marrow Transplant in late March 2022.
After two months of courageous fighting he succumbed to complications from the transplant. He was an amazing, clever, motivated and loving little boy. We are proud to have the ability to be his parents and hope to use this organization to help him live on in the memories of everyone who comes in contact with it for years and years to come.
Jacks intelligence amazed us from a very young age. He naturally gravitated towards numbers and counting as early as 18 months. As he became older, his dad’s obsession with Philly sports merged with his love of numbers when dad started buying him jerseys of their favorite players. When it was time to go to the hospital we encouraged friends and family to get him jerseys to take with. Wearing a jersey was comforting and bolstered his confidence and hope. There was a visible physical change in his whole demeanor when he had one on. He also loved to tell anyone he came across about his number, why he was wearing it and the player he was for the day.
Soon after being there it became evident that the jerseys had a practical use in a medical setting. They were loose fitting and allowed easy access to the ports and numerous tubes that he was connected to 23 hours a day. At some point a nurse commented “all the kids on this floor should be wearing jerseys”. At that point the idea really started to come to light. As things took a turn for the worse, we thought back to all of our friends and family coming together to get him his favorite numbers. We remembered how happy it made him. We realized the the best way to honor him was to try and do the same thing for other kids. This is how Jerseys for Jack was born and is the story we hope to keep telling as long as we can.
Make a child in hospital care happy by gifting them with a Jersey or another gift.
